ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVE DONATIONS FROM JERSEY SHORE GREEK FESTIVAL 2013

Ocean Township– St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean, NJ offered donations to five Monmouth Country charities with proceeds from its first annual Jersey Shore Greek Festival which took place on the church property in June 2013.  The donations - earmarked for Monmouth County 501(c)(3) organizations – were given from the proceeds of the Festival.  “These donations allow us to further our goals of outreach and Christian Orthodox Stewardship. These gifts, made on behalf of our entire Saint George Community, are our way of expressing our appreciation to the surrounding community at large for their support,” stated Fr. Andrew Eugenis, pastor. In receiving the donation on behalf of the Monmouth Medical Center Foundation, Director of Development Jean McKinney stated, "We are so grateful to be the recipient of the Jersey Shore Greek Festival Outreach Fund to benefit the Monmouth Medical Center's Pet Therapy Program.  The program provides positive interaction that brings unconditional love from an animal to the bedside and we will be able to enhance the healing process for many more patients because of your generosity."

The total amount of the donations was $7,200. The recipients of the 2013 Jersey Shore Greek Festival Outreach Fund are:

The Frances Foundation which strives to alleviate a child’s pain and suffering from cancer with a special gesture or a special moment.  The Foundation also provides financial assistance to families needing help due to their child’s fight with cancer.

Monmouth Medical Center…a Barnabas Healthcare facility, is one of NJs largest academic medical centers.  The donation received will be used to expand Monmouth Medical Center’s Pet Therapy Program which is designed to enhance the healing process for patients of all ages.

The Ocean Township Historical Museum is a cultural resource that invites residents of central New Jersey to learn and respect their regional past. It is the Museum’s  mission to preserve all the artifacts that tell the history of Ocean Township and the surrounding communities. The donation will aid in the restoration of the water tower on site of this museum.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society (Oakhurst Chapter) is an organization whose vision and mission it is to create a world free of multiple sclerosis. The donation will be used to aid local families affected by MS with employment counseling, family programs, and outreach aid.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a sports ministry to athletes and coaches. The donation made will provide athletes and coaches within the F.C.A. organization with camp scholarships and to aid with high school and middle school sports and leadership camps.

Presentations were made at St. George on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at which time Father Andrew Eugenis and George Moutis, Festival Chairperson presented the checks along with a certificate of recognition.
